South Portland- Cape Elizabeth Rotary receives largest donation in history from Port Harbor Marine.

The South Portland Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department is pleased to announce they are the recipient of a of $15,000 donation from Port Harbor Marine for the purchase and installation of an outdoor ice rink within Wainwright Farms Recreational Complex. The donation was acquired by the Rotary Club of South Portland – Cape Elizabeth, through the generosity of the Soucy family of Port Harbor Marine.  The ice rink will be used for events at Winterfest 2014, a new collaborative effort between the Rotary Club and the City of South Portland. In addition to the Winterfest, the rink will be used for the enjoyment of all in the South Portland and surrounding communities throughout the winter months.

Rob Soucy of Port Harbor Marine explains of the donation his family made for the community.  “As life-long residents of South Portland, and having owned and operated a family business here for over 35 years, we felt the ice rink was a great way to give back to the city.  The ice rink will provide hours of family fun to the residents of the communities we serve as well as the families of several of our employees who live here in South Portland”.

“Our community has many generous people who care a great deal about the recreational opportunities available to their families.  We are very appreciative of the Soucy Family for their generous donation demonstrating that caring spirit which will mean so much to our community for many future winter seasons.”  Said South Portland Parks and Recreation Director Rick Towle.  Towle went on to say, “We as a community are much stronger when the organizations like South Portland- Cape Elizabeth Rotary, private donors, and City agencies collaborate on projects maximizing our resources.”

The donation made by the Soucy family is the single largest donation the Rotary Club of South Portland- Cape Elizabeth  has received in its history.
