South Portland-Cape Elizabeth Rotary Club Offers Transformative Leadership Experience for Local Teens

South Portland – The South Portland-Cape Elizabeth Rotary Club is excited to announce up to 14 scholarships for high school sophomores from South Portland and Cape Elizabeth to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program—a four-day, three-night immersive leadership camp held June 22-25, 2025, at Camp Hinds in Raymond, Maine.

For parents and caregivers looking to support their teen’s personal growth, RYLA provides an incredible opportunity to build confidence, strengthen leadership skills, and form lasting friendships. Students will join more than 120 of their peers from high schools across southern Maine and coastal New Hampshire, engaging in hands-on activities, problem-solving challenges, and leadership training in a fun, supportive, and inspiring environment.

Why RYLA?

The RYLA experience empowers young people with skills they can carry into college, careers, and communities. Through interactive workshops and team-building exercises, students will explore:
✔ Leadership fundamentals
✔ Ethics and integrity in decision-making
✔ Effective communication and public speaking
✔ Teamwork and collaboration
✔ Goal setting and strategic planning

“South Portland-Cape Elizabeth Rotary Club fully funds these scholarships because we’ve seen firsthand how impactful the RYLA program is,” said Nancy Irving, 2024-205 Club President. “Parents and students consistently tell us that RYLA is a life-changing experience, helping students build confidence, leadership skills, and lifelong friendships.”
