This morning had really nice weather for working at Pope Preserve.

Dan Hogan, who recently spoke to the club, is leading the charge to turn what was a largely forgotten, and overgrown tract into a nice park. Large amounts of Japanese Knotweed had taken over this parcel of protected shoreland.  Dan had succeeded in clearing much of it. Today many community volunteers and about 15 Rotarians joined together to remove the roots so it wouldn't grow back. After the roots were out, milkweed was planted to provide an area attractive to Monarch butterflies.

Thanks to Nancy Irving and Nancy Hawes for the supplies to sustain the hard working crew! Coffee, cakes and some really tasty donuts and treats from Little Bigs.
