International Service Support

On Wednesday, April 26, the Club's guest was Dr. Greg Pomeroy, an orthopedic surgeon from Cape Elizabeth. Each year since 2003, Greg has led a "mercy mission" to the Dominican Republic, where he contributes major surgical services to correct extreme foot deformities, primarily in young children.

Our Club and The Rotary Foundation provided Greg with $10,000 for purchase of a power system that supports reliable use of modern surgical tools in remote locations. We provided an additional $1000 to help with the travel expenses of Greg's support staff.

Greg presented a fascinating slide show illustrating many facets of his work and travel in the Dominican Republic. At its conclusion, Tony Wagner presented Greg with a Paul Harris Fellowship in recognition of his significant humanitarian service to those in need.
