Peter Cotter of Cape Elizabeth has been elected president of the South Portland/Cape Elizabeth Rotary Club for the 2005-2006 year.
Cotter takes over the helm on July 1 and will serve for one year, succeeding last year's president Frank Butterworth.
Cotter has lived in Cape Elizabeth since 1982 with his wife Kathy and daughter Sarah, son Patrick, and daughter-in-law Megan. He owns Cotter Property Services dba Two Lights Painting and Deck Medic, a family business since 1993 which does painting and specializes in decks and deck repair/maintenance.
During his presidency, Cotter says his emphasis will be "Service Above Self" which is the theme for Rotary International this year. He says, "Our club will use this theme in our community service and international service projects."
Serving on the Rotary Club's board with Cotter for this coming year are: John Eliasson, president-elect; Tony Wagner, vice president; Nancy Hawes, treasurer; Paul Butler, secretary; Joan Furstaci, club service director; Paul McKenney, community service director; Mark Mutty, international service director; Justin Dobson, vocational service director; and Frank Butterworth, immediate past president and director at large.
